Kushani Rohanadeera appointed as new Parliamentary Secretary General

The President of Sri Lanka has appointed Kushani Rohanadeera as the next Parliamentary Secretary General with effect from 23 May 2023.

 Mrs Rohanadheera is the current Parliamentary Chief of Staff and Deputy Secretary General of Parliament and has been serving for a long time holding various posts in the Parliament.

 She has a B.Sc. (Hons) in Biological Science from the University of Colombo and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL). She is also an attorney-at-law.

 Having completed her primary and secondary education at Dharmasoka College in Ambalangoda, she began her career in Parliament as a Parliamentary officer in 1999 and served in various Parliamentary offices as an Assistant Principal Officer, Deputy Principal Officer, Assistant Secretary General, Chief of Staff and Deputy Secretary General prior to her current appointment.

 She has undergone extensive training on Parliamentary procedures and practices and legislative drafting at the Lok Sabha in India, McGill University in Canada, and institutions in many other countries.

 She is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Professional Managers, and a member of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka. She has published articles on Parliamentary procedures and practices in the journals of the Institute of Certified Professional Managers, Bank of Ceylon, Neethiya journal, Parliamentary journals and newspapers.

 She is married to Harigupta Rohanadeera and is a mother of three children.
